Information for Translation

Certification Exam

The 2017 CTTIC certification exam will be held from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday, May 6th, 2017, in Halifax, NS at the Alliance Française at 5509 Young Street, Halifax.

The national translation certification examination will consist of two texts to be translated:

1) one compulsory general text;

2) a choice between two specialized texts.

All texts will be approximately 175-185 words in length.

Along with translation and court interpreter exams, CTTIC will be offering community and medical interpreter exams (written component) in the following languages:

Farsi, Spanish, Punjabi, Cantonese, Mandarin, French, Portuguese, Korean, Japanese and Arabic

Court interpreter exams are available in six languages:

Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Farsi, Punjabi, Korean and Japanese

Anyone wishing to write the certification exam should read the information available on the ATINS web site regarding criteria and requirements. For additional information, please write to the email address certification (at) atins.org.

Please note that the use of any type of electronic device during the examination is strictly prohibited. (Electronic devices include but are not limited to cell phones, pagers, Blackberries ®, iPods®, laptop computers and tablets.)

Any such use will lead to the candidate's disqualification; the examination will not be marked and the fee will not be refunded.

The exam fee is CAD 225 (HST included) per candidate.
